Team USA Earns Two Medals at NHK Trophy

Team USA earned two medals at NHK Trophy this weekend, with Vincent Zhou earning silver in the men's event and Madison Chock and Evan Bates capturing silver in ice dance. The NHK Trophy was the fourth stop on the International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series.

In the men's event, Vincent Zhou earned 161.18 points in his free skate to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. His program featured four Level 4 spins and a Level 4 step sequence. His total mark of 260.69 earned him the silver medal.

Tomoki Hiwatashi finished ninth with 217.08 total points. In his 144.72-point free skate to music from The Artist, Hiwatashi completed two Level 4 spins.

Camden Pulkinen finished 11th with 193.18 total points. His free skate to "Besame Mucho" by II Divo and "Malaguena" by Liona Boyd earned 137.65 points.

Japan's Shoma Uno captured the men's title with 290.15 points, and the Republic of Korea's Junhwan Cha took bronze with 259.60 points.

Madison Chock and Evan Bates' outer space-themed free dance earned 124.76 points. The duo earned all positive grades of execution and earned Level 4 on six elements. Their total score of 210.78 earned the silver medal.

Russia's Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov earned the title in Tokyo with 215.44 total points. Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson of Great Britain captured bronze with 191.91 points.

In the women's event, Alysa Liu earned fourth place with 202.90 total points. Her free skate to "Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D op.35" by Joshua Bell featured three Level 4 spins to help her earn a segment score of 135.18.

Amber Glenn finished seventh with 175.83 total points. Her 112.40-point free skate to "Rain in Your Black Eyes (remake)" by Misha Ge featured two Level 4 spins.

Japan's Kaori Sakamoto took the women's gold medal with 223.34 points. Mana Kawabe, also of Japan, earned silver with 205.44 points. The Republic of Korea's Young You captured the bronze medal with 203.60 points.

Ashley Cain-Gribble and Timothy LeDuc finished fourth in the pairs event with 202.79 points. Their free skate, set to music from the W.E. soundtrack, featured four Level 4 elements. Their segment score of 132.04 is a personal best.

Audrey Lu and Misha Mitrofanov finished fifth overall with 190.03 total points. The tandem executed a strong free skate to "Ancient Lands" by Ronan Hardiman with three Level 4 elements to earn 125.08 points.

Russia took the top two spots in pairs, with Anastasia Mishina and Aleksandr Galliamov capturing gold with 227.28 total points and Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov earning silver with 213.27 points. Japan's Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara took the bronze medal with 209.42 points.
