Shin Leads Team USA in Fourth to Open Grand Prix de France

Audrey Shin placed fourth in the women's short program on Friday to lead Team USA at the Grand Prix de France.

The event, in Angers, France, is the third of six in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series.

Shin opened her Grand Prix season by posting a score of 64.27. Shin's skate to "Maria de Buenos Aires" by Gidon Kremer started with a well-executed triple toe-triple toe combination; she earned positive grades of execution on all but one element.

Loena Hendrickx of Belgium, Yelim Kim of Korea and Mana Kawabe of Japan secured the top three spots, with scores of 72.75, 68.93 and 68.83, respectively.

2022 U.S International Classic silver medalists Eva Pate and Logan Bye led the U.S. ice dance teams with a fifth-place finish in the rhythm dance and a score of 69.46. The duo received positive grades of execution on every element of their performance to "Beautiful Creatures" by Barbatuques, Andy Garcia and Rita Moreno, "Fly Love" by Jamie Foxx and "Real in Rio" by the Rio Singers.

Teammates Katarina Wolfkostin and Jeffrey Chen earned a score of 64.18 for their rhythm dance to "Samba Lagao" by Watazu, "Summer In The Ends" by Juls, Jaz Karis & George the Poet, "Hot Oil, No Sweat" by Brent Lewis and "Magalenha" by Sergio Mendes. They are in seventh place heading into tomorrow's free dance.

Italy's Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri of Italy (83.52), Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Nikolaj Soerensen of Canada (82.38) and Evgeniia Lopareva and Geoffrey Brissaud of France (73.17) lead after the rhythm dance.

The U.S. pairs team of Maria Mokhova and Ivan Mokhov earned a score of 54.77, good for sixth place after the short program.
