2022 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships Conclude, World Team Announced

Competition at the 2022 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships wrapped up in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with the announcement of the selections to the 2022 U.S. World Synchronized Skating Team.

The Haydenettes, who captured their 29th U.S. title this weekend, and 2022 U.S. silver medalists Miami University will compete at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships 2022 in Hamilton, Ontario, April 7-9. The Haydenettes have won 12 straight U.S. titles and finished with 218.86 points overall. Miami University totaled 214.67 points for their best finish since 2016. The Skyliners, who collected the bronze medal with 208.36 points, have been selected as the first alternate team. Fourth-place finishers Adrian College are the second alternate team.

Team Image made history on Friday night, winning their first ever U.S. medal and the junior title. Teams Elite earned silver for the second consecutive time, while Skyliners junior finished in the top three for the sixth consecutive Championships, claiming the bronze medal. Skyliners junior and Teams Elite were named to the U.S. World Junior Synchronized Skating Team prior to competition and will take the ice at the ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships 2022 in Innsbruck, Austria, March 17-19. Team Image is the first alternate and the Lexettes were named second alternates on Saturday night after earning the pewter medal for the second consecutive time.

The novice competition set new records across the board with the top five teams scoring more than 80 points for the first time ever. Teams Elite won gold in the novice competition for the second consecutive time, scoring a record-high 89.07 points. Skyliners Blue earned the silver medal with 88.48 points, the second highest all-time score in the division. Fond du Lac Blades cracked the top three for the first time ever, taking bronze with 83.77 points. The Ice Mates rounded out the podium in fourth place with 81.24.

In the intermediate field, Teams Elite topped the field by more than nine points to win the title with 79.57 points. The Capital Ice Chips earned intermediate silver for the second consecutive Championships with 70.42 points. Star Mates grabbed bronze with 68.33 points and the Fond du Lac Blades took the pewter medal with 63.50.

At the juvenile level, Teams Elite grabbed their second consecutive title. The Mini Mates finished second, Team Image cracked the top three for the first time and the Crystallettes earned the pewter medal.

The collegiate competition broke numerous records after the top three teams finished with more than 100 points on Saturday night. Miami University won its 20th title and set a new all-time collegiate high score with 116.95 points. Adrian College earned the silver medal with 105.74 points, Western Michigan University grabbed bronze with 104.30 and the University of Michigan collected the pewter medal with 97.95.

The adult competition came down to the wire with the top three teams separated by less than one point. The Crystallettes won gold with 64.94 points, marking their fourth adult title. DC EDGE earned silver with 64.32 and the Michigan Adult Synchronized Skating Team collected bronze with 64.15 points in their Championships debut. Team Del Sol Adult finished fourth to grab the pewter medal.

DC EDGE captured the masters title by just .02 point over the Starlights who earned silver. The teams scored 49.20 and 49.18, respectively, with the Starlights finding the masters podium for the first time ever. Allegro! grabbed the bronze medal with 47.60 points and IceSymmetrics earned pewter with 47.00.
