Haydenettes, Miami University Place in Top-Six at World Synchronized Skating Championships

The Haydenettes and Miami University placed in the top six at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships 2022 in Hamilton, Ontario on Saturday evening. The results mark the first time two U.S. teams have finished in the top six at a World Synchronized Championships since 2007.

Miami University poses in the kiss and cry following their free skate in black dressesThe Haydenettes rallied back from a bumpy short program to place fourth in the free skate and fifth overall with a final score of 212.99 points. Skating to "Hold on to Tomorrow" by Brennan Heart, the Boston-based team earned 144.29 points for their program and notched Level 4s for their twizzle element, pairs element, group lift, no-hold element and step sequence, and move element. This marks the best Worlds finish for the 29-time U.S. champions since placing fourth in 2017.

Miami University finished sixth overall with a total score of 204.90 points. The 2022 U.S. silver medalists earned 133.13 points for their "Femme Fatale" free skate, which featured a Level 4 group lift, pairs element, move element and twizzle element. Their top-six placement marks the Redhawks' best result since winning the silver medal at the 2007 World Synchronized Championships.

Canada's Les Supremes won gold with 236.31, followed by Finland's Marigold Ice Unity and Helsinki Rockettes who earned silver (228.72) and bronze (226.20), respectively.
