Ilia Malinin will attempt to punch his ticket to the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final 2025 when he takes the ice this weekend at Skate Canada International in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
The competition at the SaskTel Centre is set for Oct. 31-Nov. 2; it's the third of six in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series.
Malinin, the two-time and reigning World champion, won his first Grand Prix event this season in France by more than 40 points and is the overwhelming favorite to claim the men's title in Canada. He's won the past two Grand Prix Final titles. Should he win in Canada, it will mark his 12th consecutive individual competition victory dating back to December 2023.
He'll be joined by
Tomoki Hiwatashi. A late addition to the roster, Hiwatashi will compete in the Grand Prix Series for the second straight weekend after placing fourth at 2025 Cup of China, which ties his best result at a Grand Prix. Hiwatashi, who trains in Japan, also earned the bronze medal this season at both Trialeti Trophy and Kinoshita Group Cup.
A trio of seasoned women will vie for coveted hardware.
Isabeau Levito, the 2024 World silver medalist who was fourth at the first Grand Prix Series event in France, will look to secure her sixth overall Grand Prix Series medal.
Sarah Everhardt and
Bradie Tennell are making their Grand Prix season debuts. Everhardt, the reigning U.S. bronze medalist, kicked off the current campaign by earning the bronze medal at 2025 Lombardia Trophy. Tennell, an Olympian in 2018 and two-time U.S. champion, started her season by placing fifth at 2025 Kinoshita Group Cup.
In pairs,
Ellie Kam and Danny O'Shea look to return to the podium after starting their season with a fifth-place finish at Trialeti Trophy. Kam and O'Shea, the 2024 U.S. champions, earned medals at both of their Grand Prix events last season and qualified for the Grand Prix Final.
Three ice dance teams will travel north of the border, including the two-time and reigning U.S. silver medalists
Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko.
Carriera and Ponomarenko, fifth at the World Championships last season, kicked off the current campaign with the silver medal at Nebelhorn Trophy. The Canada-based team earned medals at both of their Grand Prix Series events last season.
Emily Bratti and Ian Somerville will compete for the second time in the Grand Prix Series; they finished eighth at Grand Prix de France.
Leah Neset and Artem Markelov will make their Grand Prix debut this season. They turned in strong outings this fall at Denis Ten Memorial, placing fifth, and Kinoshita Group Cup, where they claimed the bronze medal.
Competition begins Friday with the pairs and women's short programs. The event resumes Saturday with the rhythm dance, men's short program, pairs free skate and women's free skate. Competition concludes on Sunday with the men's free skate and the free dance.
NBC Sports will broadcast a recap show of Skate Canada International on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 3 p.m. ET. Peacock also will livestream every skater with all events available for 72 hours following their conclusion. The full broadcast schedule can be found on the
U.S. Figure Skating Fan Zone and the Peacock streaming schedule is available at

The Grand Prix Series, which started in 1995, consists of six international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Each athlete or team is eligible to score points in up to two of the six scheduled events. The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final 2025, set for Dec. 4-7 in Nagoya, Japan.
