U.S. to Send 11 to Junior Grand Prix Thailand

U.S. junior ice dance champions Hana Maria Aboian and Daniil Veselukhin lead a strong U.S. contingent this week at the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series event in Bangkok, Thailand, the fourth of seven Junior Grand Prix competitions.

The U.S. Junior National Team will send two entries each in the women's, pairs and ice dance events as well as one in the men's competition. Competition runs Sept. 9-13 at the IWIS International Training Center.

Aboian and Veselukhin arrive having defended their Lake Placid Ice Dance International junior crown in late July. The Connecticut-based team placed on the podium at both of their Junior Grand Prix events in 2024 and finished seventh at the World Junior Championships.

Joining them in the ice dance field is the team of Michelle Deych and Ryan Hu. The duo placed sixth at the JGP kickoff event in Latvia. Deych and Hu are the reigning U.S. pewter medalists.

Emilia Nemirovsky and Jessica Jurka look to build their résumés in Bangkok in the women's competition.

Nemirovsky is the two-time and reigning U.S. junior pewter medalist. Jurka is the current U.S. junior bronze medalist. Both have also stood on international podiums as Nemirovsky earned bronze at her final event of the 2024-25 season, the Maria Olszewska Memorial, while Jurka clinched gold in the junior event at 2025 Denver Cup International.

Patrick Blackwell leads the charge for the U.S. men. The U.S. junior bronze medalist from Norwood, Massachusetts, will compete in his second Junior Grand Prix season. After claiming silver at 2024 JGP Czech Republic, he competed at the 2025 World Junior Championships, where he placed 13th. Quads and a backflip are in Blackwell's technical arsenal.

Reagan Moss and Jakub Galbavy, the reigning U.S. junior champions in pairs, will attempt to earn their first Junior Grand Prix medal. The Minnesota-based pairs team placed fourth earlier this season at JGP Turkey and have two JGP events under their belts from last season.

Sofia Jarmoc and Luke Witkowski will compete for the second time this Junior Grand Prix season (8th, Turkey). The Boston-based team is the reigning U.S pewter medalists.

Competition commences Wednesday with the pairs and women's short program. The men's short program and rhythm dance begin Thursday. On Friday, the pairs and women's free skates get underway, with the free dance and men's free skate wrapping up things on Saturday.

Fans can watch all the action from Junior Grand Prix Thailand, as well as the entire Junior Grand Prix Series, live on the ISU YouTube channel.

The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, which started in 1997, consists of seven international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Each athlete is eligible to score points in two of the seven scheduled events (pairs can compete in two of four designated events). The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final 2025, taking place Dec. 4-7 in Nagoya, Japan.
