Began skating at the ages of 4 (Maia) and 7 (Alex) ... Began partnership in 2004 when Maia was 9 and Alex was 12 ... Have medaled at the U.S. Championships for 14 consecutive years, at every level and every year that they competed... Voted SKATING Magazine Readers' Choice Award winners in 2016 ... Are two-time PSA Edy Award winners ... Became the first ice dancers who are both of Asian descent to medal at the Olympic Games ... They are the second sibling duo to ever share an ice dance Olympic medal and the first from the United States ... They were first-ballot inductees to the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2023.

PERSONAL NOTES
The duo have co-authored four children’s books to increase AAPI representation in media and education… They are Sports Envoys for the U.S. Department of State’s Sports Diplomacy Division in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. In their roles, they have led activations and seminars with students and athletes in Japan, South Korea, Singapore and the Philippines. They were guests at the 2024 State Dinner honoring the Prime Minister of Japan … They are the recipients of the 2024 Act To Change Impact Award for their work in education and storytelling and were inducted into the Asian Hall of Fame in 2024 … Maia serves on the Advisory Council for Asian Women Empowered and was the inaugural Winter Athlete Representative for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Foundation NextGen Program. Alex is a member of the LA28 Athletes’ Commission and is a photographer whose work has been featured in an exhibition at the Leica Gallery in Los Angeles … Together they are Global Ambassadors for the PyeongChang Legacy Foundation and Athlete Ambassadors for Right to Play… Both worked at the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympics and Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
