Baker began skating at age 2, but did not start seriously training and competing until age 10 ... Skated with Joylyn Yang for five years, at which time the team was coached by his parents, Steve and Sharon, who competed at the 1988 Olympic Winter Games and still coach in Washington.

Hawayek graduated Troy Athens High School (Troy, Michigan) in 2014 ... Currently studying psychology at Penn State University through their World Campus program ... Parents are Jonathan (state government affairs representative) and Kirstin (consultant and web designer) ... Has two brothers, Bradley and Nathan ... Has a miniature golden doodle named Mila ... Supports NF2, and mental health and eating disorder awareness/education ... Enjoys music and DJing and Formula 1 (she performed a live DJ set during the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Montreal in 2022 and 2023).

Baker was born with a club left foot - “It literally makes it two sizes smaller than the right foot.
