Plazas started skating at 12 years old ... Previously skated in singles, earning the junior silver medal at the 2019 U.S. Collegiate Championships and the novice title at the 2018 U.S. Collegiate Championships. 

Fernandez previously skated with Joy Weinberg (2016-17) with whom he is the 2016 U.S. junior champion and finished 10th at the 2016 World Junior Championships ... Also skated with Cirinia Gillette (2014-15) with whom he is the 2014 U.S. novice silver medalist.
