Grand Prix Series Continues This Week in Russia

Athletes will also compete in Poland this weekend

The United States will send eleven athletes to compete internationally this week. Four athletes will head to Moscow to compete at Rostelecom Cup, the fifth stop on the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series. Seven athletes will head to Warsaw, Poland, to compete at Warsaw Cup, the ninth of ten stops on the ISU Challenger Series circuit.

In Russia, Mariah Bell will look for another Grand Prix medal and a shot at the Grand Prix Final after taking bronze in France. Her medal in France was her first on the Grand Prix circuit since 2016 Skate America.

Alex Krasnozhon will appear in his fourth career Grand Prix event and hopes to improve on his ninth-place finish earlier this year at 2019 Skate America presented by American Cruise Lines. The Dallas-based skater finished eighth at Rostelecom Cup last season.

In the pairs competition, Audrey Lu and Misha Mitrofanov make their Grand Prix season debut in Russia. The pair finished fifth at the U.S. International Figure Skating Classic in September.

Fans can watch the entire event live, commercial-free and on-demand with the Figure Skating Pass on NBC Sports Gold. Fan can also watch NBC's recap show on Sunday, Nov. 17 from 12-1:30 p.m. ET.

The Grand Prix Series, now in its 25th season, consists of six international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Approximately 300 athletes from 30 countries are expected to participate in the series. Each athlete is eligible to score points in up to two of the six scheduled events. The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the 2019 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, set for Dec. 5-8, in Torino, Italy.

At Warsaw Cup in Poland, Bradie Tennell takes the ice after a strong Grand Prix performance. Tennell took silver at Skate America and finished fourth at Skate Canada International.

Tennell will be joined by pairs competitors Jessica Calalang and Brian Johnson, and Nica Digerness and Danny Neudecker. Calalang and Johnson finished fourth at Skate America in their Grand Prix debut and followed with a sixth-place finish at Skate Canada International. Digerness and Neudecker will be making their season debut on the international stage.

Caroline Green and Michael Parsons will compete in the ice dance event after finishing seventh at both Skate America and Skate Canada International earlier this season.

The ISU Challenger Series is a group of 10 senior-level international figure skating competitions held each year to help skaters prepare and qualify for ISU Championship events.
