Andrew Torgashev Makes Wishes Come True with Charity Auction

In the season of giving, 2015 U.S. junior champion Andrew Torgashev is hoping his artistic abilities and caring heart will make a difference this holiday season.
 
Torgashev has personally organized a charity auction for a pair of his custom designed Jackson Ultima skates, where 100% of the profits will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the world's largest wish-granting organization which grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
 
As a young skater, Torgashev recalls witnessing a girl at his hometown rink in Coral Springs, Florida, with terminal cancer who was a Make-A-Wish recipient and was able to live out her dream of competing in the Olympics. Torgashev notes, "Watching a child's dreams come true right before your eyes is truly something magical. When choosing a charity to support I knew that Make-A-Wish is without a doubt one of the best."
 
What makes these auctioned skates so special? They are one-of-a-kind as Torgashev custom designed them using freehand acrylic work with white and grey paints. He shares, "When I started these skates, I didn't know what would come of them. I just knew it had to be something special." Torgashev further acknowledges it took him over four months to brainstorm his ideas. "I wanted my designs to relate to Make-A-Wish, so I really let my imagination go. I added fun designs like aliens and spaceships, so they are geared toward children," says Torgashev.
 
Torgashev adds, "Ultimately if my skates landed in the hands of a kid that would be my dream. I would hope they could bring them joy and distract them from the hardships they are facing."
 
Amidst the spirit of the holidays, Torgashev shares, "If I have the power to make a difference, I want to do it. This year I want to do my part in giving back to the community and I hope this auction will bring good into people's lives."
