Jason Brown Closes ISU Four Continents Championships with Silver Medal

Jason Brown earned the silver medal in the men's competition to close the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships 2020 in Seoul. Team USA tallied four total medals at the competition – one gold, one silver and two bronzes.

Brown tallied 274.82 points en route to silver. In his 180.11-point free skate to music from Schindler's List, Brown notched Level 4 marks for his three spins and step sequence, and received the highest program components score of the competition with 92.58 points. His  free skate and total scores were both international bests. The 2020 U.S. silver medalist also won the bronze medal at the event in 2018.

"Overall I'm really happy with my performance," Brown said. "There was a little blip which I would have loved to have tackled. I would have loved to skate completely clean. I guess I have a little leftover to put out there for Worlds. But I'm overall happy with my overall performances this entire week."

Tomoki Hiwatashi finished ninth overall with 240.78 points. The 2020 U.S. bronze medalist opened his program to "Petrushka" by Igor Stravinsky with a strong quadruple toe loop-triple toe loop combination. He went on to land another quad toe loop and five more triple jumps to notch 152.69 points. His total score was also an international best.

In his Four Continents debut, Camden Pulkinen placed 11th with 226.82 points. His free skate to "The Last Emperor" by Ryuichi Sakamoto received 142.16 points.

Japan's Yuzuru Hanyu and Yuma Kagiyama won the gold (299.42) and bronze (270.61) medals, respectively.

Earlier in the week, Madison Chock and Evan Bates won their second consecutive Four Continents title in ice dance. Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue took the bronze medal in the event and Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker finished sixth.

In the ladies competition, Bradie Tennell won the bronze medal, marking her first medal at an ISU Championship event. Karen Chen placed seventh while Amber Glenn finished ninth in her Four Continents debut.

Jessica Calalang and Brian Johnson were the top U.S. finisher in the pairs competition in fourth place. In their first Four Continents, they also received the small bronze medal in the free skate. Tarah Kayne and Danny O'Shea finished just behind them in fifth place. Alexa Knierim and Chris Knierim withdrew from competition after the short program.

The event was broadcasted on NBC and NBCSN throughout the week, as well as live and on-demand on the Figure Skating Pass on NBC Sports Gold. Visit competition central on the U.S. Figure Skating Fan Zone for more details.
