Eight U.S. Athletes Set for First Junior Grand Prix Series Event in France

Eight U.S. athletes are heading to the first event of the 2022 International Skating Union Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series set for Aug. 25-27 in Courchevel, France.

Two-time U.S. junior medalist Clare Seo will headline for the U.S. in the women's competition. Seo earned a bronze medal at the 2021 JGP France and finished sixth at the 2022 World Junior Championships. Sarah Everhardt will be making her Junior Grand Prix debut in France after coming off a gold medal finish in the junior event at the 2022 Philadelphia Summer International.

In the men's competition, Lucius Kazanecki and Michael Xie will represent the U.S. in France. Both men will be making their Junior Grand Prix debut.

Two teams will be representing Team USA in the ice dance field. 2022 U.S. junior bronze medalists Elliana Peal and Ethan Peal will make their JGP debut. The sibling duo recently finished fourth in the junior event at the 2022 Lake Placid Ice Dance International. Also making their JGP debut are 2022 U.S. junior pewter medalists Vanessa Pham and Jonathan Rogers. The pair recently earned the silver medal at the 2022 Lake Placid Ice Dance International.

Competition starts on Thursday, Aug. 25, with the women's and men's short programs. The rhythm dance and women's free skate will take place on Friday, Aug. 26, and the event will conclude with the men's free skate and free dance on Saturday, Aug. 27. Schedule and results are available on U.S. Figure Skating's Junior Grand Prix Competition Central page.

Entering its 25th season, the ISU Junior Grand Prix Series consists of seven international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Each athlete is eligible to score points in two of the seven scheduled events (pairs can compete in two of four designated events). The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final 2022, taking place Dec. 8-11 in Torino, Italy. The ISU will stream the event live on its YouTube page.
