Beck Strommer led Team USA at the Junior Grand Prix in Gdansk, Poland, over the weekend, taking home the silver medal.
This is Strommer's second Junior Grand Prix medal this season after winning the bronze at JGP Austria.
After finishing third in the short program with 67.58 points, Strommer's free skate to "Tree of Life Suite" by Roberto Cacciapaglia earned him 132.64 points thanks to two jump elements performed in the second half of his performance: a triple flip-double toe loop combination and a triple lutz. With a second-place result in the segment, he secured the silver with 200.22 total points.
With one Junior Grand Prix remaining, Strommer currently ranks sixth in the men's standings. If the standings were to hold following next week's competition, Strommer would qualify for ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final as the top six athletes earn a place to compete in China.
In the women's discipline,
Sarah Everhardt finished sixth overall, her best result in the JGP Series. She set international personal bests in her short program (60.19) and her final score (168.69).
Two top-10 finishes highlighted the ice dance discipline for Team USA. Making their international debut,
Amy Cui and Kenny Eckert led the way in seventh place with a total score of 135.22, while U.S. teammates
Kristina Bland and Matthew Sperry finished 10th with a score of 126.17.
