2024 Prevagen U.S. Figure Skating Championships Begin Next Week in Columbus

U.S. titles on the line in championship, junior and novice events

More than 180 athletes will compete for U.S. titles at the 2024 Prevagen U.S. Figure Skating Championships Jan. 22-28 in Columbus, Ohio.

U.S. Championship titles will be on the line in the women's, men's, pairs and ice dance disciplines for championship and junior-level competitors, as well as for novice pairs and ice dance skaters.

Three of last year's championship-level winners will return to defend their titles: Isabeau Levito, Ilia Malinin, and Madison Chock and Evan Bates. Reigning World Champions Chock and Bates are vying for their fifth U.S. championship, which would tie them for second-most in ice dance.

In the junior event, ice dancers Leah Neset and Artem Markelov are looking to make history and win their third straight junior crown. No athlete in any discipline has won three straight U.S. junior titles.

The U.S. Championships will serve as the final competition before the World Junior Championships and World Championships teams are named.

This year's Championships also marks the first time the event has been held in Columbus and returns to Ohio for the first time since 2009. Official practice begins Monday, Jan. 22 with competition kicking off Tuesday, Jan. 23 with the novice and junior events. Championship competition starts Thursday, Jan. 25.

All junior and championship events will be streamed live on Peacock. Events can be accessed on Peacock for 72 hours following their conclusion. The novice events will be livestreamed on the U.S. Figure Skating YouTube page.

All championship events will be televised with more than 15 hours of live coverage on USA and NBC throughout the week. This includes eight hours of live coverage on NBC of the women's free skate on Jan. 26, the free dance on Jan. 27 and the men's free skate on Jan. 28. In conjunction with the Championships, nearly 150 athletes at the juvenile, intermediate and novice levels will descend on the National High Performance Development Team Camp, set for Jan. 29-30. The camp features competitive group training, both on and off the ice, which rotates between instruction sessions and opportunities for athletes to showcase their best skills. Off-ice sessions will include specialty dance sessions, lifts, sports science, learning from officials and preparation for Team USA. Athletes are also invited to observe the senior events starting Thursday, Jan. 25.
