Levito Second After Short Program at Skate Canada International

Kam and O’Shea Fourth in Pairs After Short

Isabeau Levito delivered a clean short program and sits just out of the lead at Skate Canada International. Levito posted a score of 71.80 on Friday night and is second by .49 points heading into Saturday's free skate.

Skate Canada International in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, marks the third of six ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series events.

Levito, skating to music from two Sophia Loren movies, opened with a triple flip-triple toe loop combination that generated a program-high 9.80 points. Two Level 4 spins and a sound triple loop were other program highlights.

She led all skaters with her program components score of 34.72.

Levito is competing for the second time this Grand Prix Series, having placed fourth a couple of weeks ago at Grand Prix de France.

Bradie Tennell and Sarah Everhardt finished fifth and seventh, respectively with scores of 65.55 and 63.47. It is their first Grand Prix event of the season.

Tennell, performing to "Young and Beautiful" by Lana Del Rey, rallied from a mistake on her opening jumping pass to deliver Level 4 marks for two spins and her step sequence.

This is the second time Tennell has competed at Skate Canada (2019).

Everhardt, skating to "Reel Around the Sun" by Bill Whelan, turned in a solid performance with a Level 4 spin and two sound jumps — a triple loop and a double Axel.

Pairs Ellie Kam and Danny O'Shea made their Grand Prix Series debut this season, finishing fourth in the short program with a score of 65.48.

The duo, skating to k.d. lang's classic version of "Hallelujah," opened with a Level 4 triple twist and finished with Level 4s on their change-foot combination spin, Axel lasso lift and backward inside death spiral.

Skate Canada International marks the second event of the season for the reigning U.S. bronze medalists; they placed fifth at the Trialeti Trophy in the country of Georgia earlier this month.
