Team USA earned two medals to close out the third ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series stop at the Grand Prix de France, with
Isabeau Levito winning the women's discipline and
Ilia Malinin taking home the silver. Levito highlighted the final day in France, securing her first career Grand Prix event title.
En route to gold, Levito and Malinin secure their spot on the U.S. roster for the ISU Grand Prix Figure Skating Final in Beijing, China, Dec. 7-10.
Leading off for the U.S., Levito secured the gold thanks to an opening triple Lutz-triple toe loop that earned her 11.45 points and a stellar short program performance on Friday that put her five points ahead of the field. She scored 131.39 points to top the podium and become the youngest U.S. woman to win a Grand Prix title since Sarah Hughes in 2001. With an overall score of 203.22, she solidified her win in France and qualified for her second Grand Prix Final.
After a heated battle with France's Adam Siao Him Fa, Malinin earned the silver with 304.68 points. Malinin's free skate to music from
The Succession soundtrack by Nicholas Britell earned positive grades of execution in all his elements except one, with four elements earning 15+ points for a total of 203.10.
This will be the second year Malinin has qualified for the Grand Prix Final.
U.S. teammate
Camden Pulkinen finished fifth overall with a score of 230.84. His free skate to music fromÂ
Tosca by Giacomo Puccini earned him 147.40 points.Â
In the ice dance discipline,
Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko finished just off the podium in fourth with their free dance performance. The duo received all positive grades of execution on their elements, and the circular step sequence boosted their score by 10.21 points for a free dance score of 113.76 and an overall score of 186.70.
Lorraine McNamara and Anton Spiridonov finished ninth overall with 164.25 points.
In the pairs free skate,
Valentina Plazas and Maximiliano Fernandez finished just off the podium in fourth to close out their Grand Prix season. The duo earned a free skate score of 109.74 and an overall score of 168.20.
Due to an injury,
Ellie Kam and Danny O'Shea withdrew from the competition.
